Established in 2007, Easy Fly Express Limited (EFX), a Cargo Airline Company of Bangladesh, to begin with operated one British Aerospace manufactured HS-748 Cargo Aircraft and provided service to local customers throughout the year on domestic sectors. It has also been operating ‘Joint Freighter Flights’ in the international sectors with Emirates, Etihad, China Southern, China Cargo, Hong Kong Cargo, Korean Air, Blue Dart and others.
In early 2014, Karnaphuli, as part of its expansion and diversification program into the air cargo business and in order to leverage the dominant position it enjoys in sea cargo, acquired EFX and has put in place a professional Team with qualified and experienced personnel. The paid up capital of the Company was doubled to BDT 200 million and its AOC allows it to operate scheduled / non scheduled cargo services in domestic, regional and international routes. Domestic operations were resumed from Nov’2015 with cash acquisition of a SAAB A340A aircraft and it is now poised to operate services between Dhaka and Kolkata as it expands into regional sectors.
EFX is now set to become the first Bangladesh cargo airline to spread its wings internationally. It has secured Designated Carrier Status from authorities to operate scheduled services between Bangladesh and Hong Kong as well as China and has chosen A300-600 equipment to operate these services within first quarter of 2017.
Easy Fly Express Limited, a premier cargo airline company, was established 7 (seven) years ago on 08 July, 2007 in Bangladesh. Recently the ownership of the Company has been taken over by the Karnaphuli Group from 01 February, 2014. The Karnaphuli is a business house of diversified activities and represents three of the World’s top 20 container shipping lines. The Karnaphuli is with HANJIN Shipping Company Ltd KOREA since 1992, and is with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company Geneva since May 2012 – the second largest Container Liner in the world. The Karnaphuli is also representing Sea Consortium Pvt Ltd Singapore since 1988. Container & Terminal Services Limited (CTS) a sister concern of Karnaphuli provides: Container movement from port to off dock and back Door to Door service. Currently the Karnaphuli owns largest fleet of prime mover and chassis in the Chittagong Sea Port.
The Karnaphuli Group is engaged in the print media and owns global satellite TV channel in Bangla language, launched on March 26, 2009 named DESH TV. The Karnaphuli is publishing daily Bhorer Kagoj. Deener Sheshey , Bangladesh’s first evening daily.
Beside all these, Karnaphuli Group has large participations in the Real Estate, Telecommunications, Healthcare, General Insurance and Securities business segments.
Easy Fly is professionally equipped with available staff having a varied experience of the aviation business. On the other hand, the management team continuously endeavors to create safety awareness and keep the company at par to the latest aviation standards. While we moved on with our domestic operations, we foresee greater business opportunities lying ahead in the international air-cargo market as well. Initial market research shows an appreciable tonnage of cargo movements between Bangladesh and China, Middle-east, Europe & in the USA region.
EFx has procured one SAAB340A and the aircraft landed at DAC/HSIA on 04 July, 2015 & started its regular cargo operations from 22 November, 2015 in the domestic sectors. The aircraft would be utilized in the domestic & regional routes.
As trade barriers recede and businesses in developed economies increasingly pursue market opportunities abroad, the Board of Directors of our organization have resolved as part of our diversification objective to start international freighter in this new emerging regional and international market. To extend cargo network initially to the Chinese cities, middle-east, we are particularly working to acquire appropriate aircrafts at earliest.
